Today Schatzi learned to go through the doggie door.

Elizabeth played ball with Schatzi, and she supervised Dad making meatballs:)

Took Schatzi to vet today. Turns out she has kennel cough. More pills (and bills) (oh my!). Must quarantine her from meeting other dogs for 20-30 days.

Schatzi has a bit of cough. Not sure if she is getting fluff from tennis ball in her mouth (she's quite the chewer).

Trevor (Blair's son) met Schatzi today. Trevor and Elizabeth played with Schatzi and walked her also. Trevor helped Dale with installing a screen door (so that Schatzi doesn't succeed with a mad dash for freedom!).

Elizabeth (Blair's daughter) met Schatzi today.

Today was Schatzi's first vet visit. Dr. Saito says she's all right and has given us some meds for worming.
This evening Patricia and Emile came by to visit with Schatzi. Emile enjoyed meeting her, and Patricia definitely did! (Patricia is a big softy when it comes to dogs... so are Dale and Blair!)

First day with Schatzi at all engines firing! (that is, the sedative from surgery has worn off) She was eager to play in the morning and is exploring everywhere! Had one piddle accident in the house, but that's not unusual for a new location. (oh well...)

Got the call this morning that Samantha has been spayed and will be ready for pickup after 3pm. We went and got her (bought more stuff for her at the shelter's pet supply store) and took her home. She's pretty zonked out, and goes over and lays down under a chair (guess it makes her feel more protected). We've decided to name her Schatzi ("treasure" in German). Patricia, Dale's sister, came by in the evening to visit our new "child" and was quite complimentry. After Patricia left we moved Schatzi's crate into the bedroom and put her into it for the night. Everyone had a quiet evening.

Blair and Dale went to the Santa Clara County Humane Society this morning and found a dachshund mix among the new arrivals. Her name is Samantha. We placed a 24 hour hold on her, as we needed to go to an appointment.

After the appointment we came back and visited with her again.

We checked to see if she was playful by tossing a tennis ball. She ran after it, picked it up and came back with it. She really enjoyed that. We decided that she was a sweet and playful dog and definitely the one for us!

Signed the adoption papers, paid the fees and we're now awaiting the phone call that she's out of her spaying surgery and available for pick-up.
